Hunting for some knit gloves
Tuesday, December 4th, 2007For the longest time, I’ve wanted some knit gloves. Let me explain…
At work, I sit under the AC vent, and its cold all the time. I always tell myself to get some gloves, but I usually end up too lazy or waiting for a good deal. Or it’s summer, and think it’s too hot for gloves. Oh, and these gloves couldn’t be any gloves. It had to be small/tight enough so I can put them on and keep typing. Snowboarding gloves were out of the question cause one finger would also hit the perimeter. Those gloves that covers all four fingers were no good either, cause I would hit a whole block of letters. I HAD to get the perfect ones.
Yesterday I was determined to get me some knit gloves. So, after class I was driving back to work. While driving, I was thinking where can I get some gloves. I first thought of Target cause it was next to my house. Then I thought of Sears… I was set on Sears. Once I exited the freeway, I thought of CVS or Rite-Aid, so I think to myself, “the thrift store would be soo much cheaper”.
So, I ended up at the thrift store and I go searching. Looking through each aisle to see what type of aisle it is. I found this one that had clothes and “winter” clothes. I look around and nothing. I found this old lady worker. Here’s the convo.
Me: “excuse me, do you have any mittens or gloves”
*She looks at me weird*
Old Lady Worker: “what?”
*I asked again*
Old Lady Worker: “mittens…?”
Me: “…. OR…. GLOVES…”
Old Lady Worker: “MIIIITTTTEENNNNS???”
Me: “…. OOOOOORRRR…………… GLLLLLLOOOOVVVVEEEESSSS.”
Old Lady Worker: “mitten gloves?!?!?!?”
Me: -_- “sure…”
So, basically she goes and says she doesn’t know if she has them and we go for a little hunt. We give up and I said that “it’s okay, I’ll look somewhere else”.
I started to walk out the store, and BAM… there they are, the gloves. Right where I walked in. I always do this too…
I look around the stand and found the ones I want, cause the other ones where big or I didn’t like. I looked at the tag, and it had big block letters that said “LADIES”. I thought… well, they’re just for work. So I tried them on and they looked okay, no big deal. And so I bought them. While leaving, I saw the olde lady worker, and I screamed “I FOUND THEM”, but she didn’t look at me. Some other person did and he looked at me weird.
At work, I tried them on. And oh man… they ARE for ladies. The wrist part fluffed out. I was not going to wear that. But I had already thrown away the reciept, so I can’t do anything about it. I tried to improve by cutting the fluffed out part. I did… and it was okay. I kept wearing them and they got itchy. I took them off and threw them away.
Determined to get some gloves, after work, I went to Sears. Looked around and found the gloves area. It was for women. I went to the “Accessories” area. They should call that women stuff, cause there’s not guy accessories, just bras, panties, and purses.
So, I had one more place to go… Target. And so I went. I walked in and I saw a stand for winter accessories. It had scarfs, hats and gloves. I start too look and they had what I want. I start looking around the area, and there’s a bunch of women items. The gloves were in colors that weren’t too manly also. HMMM… I look up and I’m in the “Accessories” area. I drop the gloves and move on.
I walked around and I ended up at the men area. I start to look around. I found the winter area and there were nothing like gloves and mittens. So I start to leave and I pass by the boys area. I thought to myself that they might have something here. So, I wander around. I found the gloves. Tried them on… they’re a bit tight, but that okay. They had plain ones and it also had designs on them like fire trucks and race cars. I took one plain one.
I start to leave and I think to myself that the mens has to have something. I go back to the mens area and started to wander around. And found them!!! I found the gloves, scarfs, and hats area. It was on the opposite side of where I looked.
I got two knit gloves to celebrate.
*I’m actually typing in one of the gloves right now.*
