Tethering with Blackberry

Get rid of the low voltage message when connecting blackberry to xps

- All I did was go here: https://launchpad.net/~doctormo/+archive/ppa
- Add OpenPGP key
- Add repository
- Update apt-get (apt-get update)
- Install barry-util (apt-get install barry-util)
- Not sure if it’s required, but I restarted xps here…

- Followed instructions installing the dependencies and bbtether.
- For me… I do have “replacedefaultroute”, so that was easy.
Let’s tether
- Connect blackberry to xps
- Watch screen popup a message (something about low voltage) and it will go away
- Start Berry4All
- Go to Device>Rescan
- Oh… says it failed… (expected)
- Disconnect blackberry from xps
- Go to Device>Rescan
- Only listed USB devices…
- Connect blackberry to xps again
- Go to Device>Rescan
- Oh… it worked.. but I got a warning… (we need this warning…)

- Disconnect blackberry
- Turn off blackberry (don’t need to remove battery)
- Turn on blackberry
- Close Berry4All
- Connect blackberry to xps
- Start Berry4All
- Go to Modem>Connect
- Select Sprint
- Connected!!!
Improve speed
- Edit conf/sprint file
- Increased speed to 921600.
Side Note
- I did have trouble with firefox… it wouldn’t “surf” the net
- I could ping though…
- Reading the FAQ on bbtether… sometimes firefox puts it to “work offline”.
- That is my issue…
- Unchecked “work offline”… and now I am able to surf the net.
